Adding a Contactzilla address book to OSX Contacts: Using the provisioning Profile

This guide explains how to set up a Contactzilla CardDAV account on macOS Contacts using a provisioning profile (.mobileconfig file). This method simplifies the process by automatically configuring all necessary settings, eliminating the need to manually input server details, usernames, and passwords.

Downloading the Provisioning Profile

  1. From your CardDAV connections list in Contactzilla, locate the connection you want to use and click ‘Download profile’. This will download a .mobileconfig file to your Mac.
Tip 💡:If you’re unfamiliar with creating a CardDAV connection, check out our guide to setting up CardDAV connections for your Contactzilla address books.

Installing the Profile on macOS

  1. Locate the .mobileconfig file you just downloaded and double-click it.
  2. macOS will notify you that a new profile needs to be installed. Go to System Settings (or System Preferences on older versions of macOS).
  3. In System Settings, search for or navigate to ‘Profiles’.
  4. You will see the downloaded Contactzilla profile with a ‘Required’ badge. Click ‘Install…’.
  5. A confirmation dialog will appear. Click ‘Install’ again. You may need to enter your Mac’s administrator password to authorize the installation.
  6. Once the profile is installed, your Contactzilla address book will be automatically added to the Contacts app.

Your contacts will now begin to sync. You can view and manage them by opening the Contacts app on your Mac.
